Breakfast At Tiffany's Baby Shower

I absolutely LOVE old movies! Many people say that I am a very elegant person, so it shouldn't be hard to believe that I absolutely adore Audrey Hepburn! What a beautiful actress she was! I love her style, her sophistication, her poise! Of course Breakfast at Tiffany's is probably her most iconic movie- gotta love her little black dress! So when I was asked to come up with a theme for a baby shower, I thought that a Breakfast at Tiffany's theme would be fun.

This theme would also be FABULOUS for a birthday party (Hmmmm- did my husband catch that hint?)
Tell your guest to wear a little black dress. The mommy-to-be will LOVE this because black makes you look thinner and she will take all the help she can get at this point!!! Provide each guest with any of the following :a pearl necklace, black satin gloves, black feather boa, and black sunglasses! This is a great photo op! Provide goodie boxes for the guests using a Tiffany blue gift box- many places online sell them! Put some items from the movie in them: Craker jacks, a sleeping mask, a faux diamond, etc.

(I decorated the gift table with a Louis Vuitton shoe box on a pedestal. It really got me thinking of doing a fashion tablescape.)
I think it would be fun if you served Brunch- it would go perfectly with the theme.

A very frugal way to make napkin rings is to cut a paper towel roll into the desired size of your napkin ring. Hot glue one end of ribbon to the inside of the paper towel roll. Continue to roll the ribbon around the paper towel roll until it is completely covered. Glue the end of the ribbon to the inside of the paper towel roll.
For this theme we then glued a clear rhinestone to the front (to resemble a diamond).

Need help with your baby shower?
At Mommy Mogul we have created a Tablescape kit to help you with the table decorations! It comes complete with the entire tablescape (the posters are not included, but can be purchased inexpensively at Allposters.com).
We even include one free baby shower game that is so fun and it is for GREAT photos .
You can find this kit at www.mommymogul.etsy.com

Have a FABULOUS party darlings!!!

Costumes aren't just for Halloween

The latest trend going around right now is themed birthday parties for children. I love to look on the internet and see all across the country the very creative and talented people that make kids birthday parties so special. About a year ago, I decided to add themed parties to the things that my business (Mommy Mogul) was doing.
I have been doing themed parties for about 12 years. I had always loved coming up with all of the decorations, tablescape, etc. It never dawned on me at the time that this was actually being done all over the country as a business! What? You can actually do something you love to do and get paid for it!!!! What a marvelous idea! That is when I decided to add it to our products and services. I have had a blast coming up with themes and taking pictures and all that comes with birthday parties. I love the costumes! Way back when, you only saw costumes at Halloween. But not anymore! Costumes add so much to an event. It truly makes the party more special. It just adds so much more than the decorations do. It is like you are helping the kids imagination when they can dress the part.

How cute is it to have a spa party and every little girl is wearing a bath robe? Or you give your little boy a race car party and have him in a race car driver costume! It's great for the pictures and the party! I think it truly makes the party magical! Next time you have your child's birthday party- whether you do it yourself or hire someone else to do it- consider adding costumes to the festivities. You will be surprised how much a simple little costume can add so much sparkle to your child's event. You won't be sorry that you did! Until next time, make the most of what you have!!!

Gentlemen Start Your Engines!!!!

Amazing how fast time flies isn't it? One minute you're in the hospital giving birth to that bundle of joy, and the next you're throwing his third birthday party! I can relate to that! My youngest son just turned 3! We celebrated his birthday by having a Race Car Party. No Race Car Party could be complete without Lightning McQueen! On the table you will find a Lightning McQueen costume that I made out of cardboard! That's right- cardboard. I didn't realize cardboard could be formed to curve exactly how you wanted it to bend, but it can! This costume would later come off of the table and our birthday boy would wear it for a race with his birthday guests! The cups I ordered online! They are the cutest things I have ever seen!

Construction cone cups complete with their own straw! I made place card holders out of mini trophies that I bought at a local party store. I also used a bigger trophy on a stand with the birthday boys initials for one of the centerpieces. I wanted to get a real traffic light, but I did not have the time to order one, so I made a fake traffic light out of a cardboard box, a trash bag, and colored paper. For the party we played a pit crew relay race where you had to change the tire on Lightning McQueen, wash his windows, and fill him up with gas in his gas tank. We also had a tire rolling race, a bean bag tire toss, and played red light green light! We had cars set up for the kids to play with on a mat that looked like a little city! He had a Race Car Themed cupcake tower with race car and checkered flag toppers. One the top was a six inch cake with a trophy topper! All and all it was a great party and we can't believe our little one has zoomed through another year!!

It's all in the details

I found this party on Party411. It was an Ohio State Bar Mitzvah. Talk about fabulous!!!! The attention to detail was impeccable.

Check out what they did with the place cards. They attached the placecards to squeeze hot dogs and put them all on a fake grill that had fake flames.!
They even had a locker room and a bus! I love that a lot of thought was put into this party. It makes it that much more special for the guest of honor and all of the people that attend. Special touches are what give a party that custom one-of-a-kind designer feel. Think about that at your next party. At Mommy Mogul, we like to put that special twist on our favor bags. Our cars theme, for example, have personalized tool boxes for the favor bags. Not only does a tool box go with the cars theme, but it is a great keepsake long after the party is over. It is the special touches that make a party special!
There are plenty of party books out there for you to personalize your next event. Hello, cupcake is a wonderful book about themed cupcakes, that may be a way you can add a special touch to your party. Do what they did at Party411, have place cards with a themed twist!
No matter your theme or party event, it's the tought that goes into that counts.
